A brand brings together a public customer page, its visual identity, social links, and Chat widget. Each location appears on one brand page at a time.

## Find or add a brand

**Search brand pages** filters the current list by name, ID, path, and other displayed brand details. It changes only the current view and never edits saved brand data. **Add brand** opens a draft editor; save valid identity and path fields before assigning locations.

## Basic fields

| Field | Rules and customer consequence |
| --- | --- |
| **Brand ID** | A unique value using lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens. It helps distinguish this brand when you assign locations or configure optional features. Review those settings after changing it. |
| **Page link** | Enter no more than 64 lowercase letters, numbers, hyphens, or underscores. It becomes the stable canonical brand path at `customer.help/<page-link>` and must be unique. The following first-level paths are reserved and cannot be used: `admin`, `signup`, `onboard`, `login`, `signin`, `portal`, `profile`, `reset`, `forgot-password`, `password-reset`, `system`, `master`, `about`, `contact`, `privacy`, `terms`, `security`, `pricing`, `directions`, `help`, `locations`, `features`, and `follow`. Changing a saved link can break bookmarks, search results, QR codes, and external links. |
| **Brand name** | Public brand name and default widget identity. Enter a clear name customers will recognize. |
| **Tagline** | Short public statement displayed with the brand. Enter it separately for each published language. |
| **Page description** | Longer public summary of the brand and its services. Keep it current and omit private business information. |
| **Logo text** | Up to 4 characters shown when the brand uses a text mark. Enter it separately for each published language and verify the result on a phone. |
| **Help panel label** | Small public label above the main help headline. It should add context without repeating the full headline. |
| **Help panel headline** | Main public-page heading. State clearly what customers can accomplish on the page. |
| **Help panel text** | Supporting public paragraph below the headline. Explain available help without promising unavailable service. |
| **Start with location search** | When on, customers choose or search for a location before the main Contact, Directions, or Follow experience. Useful for multi-location brands; test the no-location and denied-geolocation paths. |

Enter public text in each enabled business language. If a translation is blank, customers see the primary-language value. Customer Help does not create translations automatically.

## Public and localized URLs

The primary business language always uses the unprefixed brand URL. A non-primary Spanish (Mexico) version uses `/es/` before the brand path, and a non-primary English (United States) version uses `/en/`. For example, an English-primary brand named `north-star` uses `/north-star` for English and `/es/north-star` for Spanish. If Spanish is primary, `/north-star` is Spanish and `/en/north-star` is English.

Older shared links that use `?lang=` permanently redirect to the matching language-prefixed URL. Contact, Directions, Locations, and Follow path aliases also redirect to the canonical brand page and select the relevant section with a fragment; they are not separate pages for search indexing.

When an active primary custom domain is connected, its canonical root represents the default brand. Additional brands use `/<page-link>`, and non-primary languages add `/es` or `/en` before that route. The corresponding standard `customer.help` brand URLs redirect to the active primary domain while it remains active. See [Connect a custom domain](/help/domains.md) before changing published links.

## Appearance fields

| Field | Rules and consequence |
| --- | --- |
| **Logo image link** | Public HTTPS image URL that opens without signing in. A broken, private, or blocked URL keeps the logo from appearing. |
| **Main color** | Main action and identity color. Use a valid color and verify text, focus, and button contrast. |
| **Accent color** | Secondary emphasis color for branded details and interactive states. Check it with both primary and background colors. |
| **Page background** | Public page background color. Verify readable contrast across normal, hover, focus, and disabled states. |
| **Roundness** | Radius from 8 through 24 pixels used by branded cards and controls. Values outside that range cannot be saved in the editor. Inspect both the preview and public page after changing it. |

The live preview is representative. Open the actual public page on mobile and desktop and test keyboard focus and contrast.

## Social fields

- **Handle** is the recognizable account name displayed for a supported network. Enter the official business handle, but remember that a handle alone does not create a public destination.
- **Link** is the public absolute URL customers open. It must point to the official business profile for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, YouTube, or TikTok; a missing or invalid link keeps that social destination hidden.

## Public identity consistency

The public brand page identifies the Organization with the saved brand or company name, canonical page, current public description, valid public logo, and monitored company phone or service email when those values are available. Use the same recognizable identity that customers see on the business's official website and profiles; do not add a legal name, address, or contact that the business has not approved for public use.

A valid official social-profile URL can be included as another public identity reference for the Organization. A handle without its complete public URL is displayed only as a label and is not treated as proof of identity. Location-specific Google and Yelp review links remain customer actions and are not alternate identities for the brand or location. See [Verify Customer Help product claims](/help/evidence-methodology.md#how-public-entity-information-is-interpreted).

## Rename or remove safely

Before changing a Brand ID or Page link, review public links, QR codes, search results, connected features, and installed widgets. After saving, test the Dashboard link and every installed widget.

You may be unable to remove a brand while locations, a widget, or AI sources still use it. Reassign locations and update those features first. Do not remove a brand merely to hide information temporarily.

Removal is also the current unpublish action; there is no separate publication switch. After a saved removal, the brand is archived, its old public and localized URLs return a genuine not-found response, and it is removed from generated sitemaps within the five-minute sitemap cache target. Search engines can take longer to remove a URL they already indexed. If the brand must remain available, edit it instead of removing it.

Subscription state does not silently unpublish a non-archived brand from its standard `customer.help` URL. It can make a paid custom domain ineligible to remain canonical, in which case Customer Help returns canonical discovery to the standard URL. Use **Remove** when the brand page itself must stop being public.

## Permissions, billing, and visibility

Only Administrators manage brands. Additional brands and their widgets do not by themselves add a charge; locations and optional features can change the subscription. Almost every saved brand field is customer-visible. A brand's assignments determine which locations and AI information customers can use on that page and widget.

## Troubleshooting

- **Path is rejected:** keep it within 64 characters, use the allowed lowercase pattern, choose a unique value, and avoid every reserved first-level path listed above.
- **Translation shows primary language:** enter and save that field in the secondary-language tab, then confirm the language is enabled.
- **Social profile is missing:** save a valid public URL; a handle alone is insufficient.
- **Colors are unreadable:** return to brand colors or choose combinations that meet contrast requirements.
